How do I enable Java within Firefox?

I have gone to about:config and set the extensions.blocklist.enabled to "false", I have deleted blocklist.xml, pluginreg.dat from my profile and I have re-started Firefox and made sure the Java plugin is enabled (I set to Always Activate or Always Ask). I have checked to see that Java itself is allowing it by doing the appropriate things in the Java Control Panel and testing with other browsers.

When I visit a page with Java using Firefox, it still says plugin disabled. Anything else I missed? I'm running Firefox 32.

Please don't give me no garbage about security, safety, blah, blah, blah. I understand the risks, this is for debugging my own web page/application on my local machine which sits behind a firewall. I really wish Firefox would stop treating its users like idiots. Along with the invalid cert error , this might be the last straw to make me ditch Firefox.

What Java version do you use?

Do you see the Java plugin in "Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Plugins"?

You can also check the Java plugin on the about:plugins page via the location/address bar.

I appreciate everyone's eagerness to help, but please, please read my post carefully before responding. Perhaps I wasn't clear enough.

I know how to get to the Plugins page. As I noted, the Java Plugin appears to be ENABLED. (The settings are "Ask to Activate" , "Always Activate"). When it is disabled, it is set to "Never Activate" which is NOT the case here.

I am running Java 8. (Plugin actually says version 8.0.110.12 11.11.2.12 if that string means anything to someone) I don't believe this is relevant. As I pointed out, it works just fine in all other browsers, including the old Opera 12. It's not like the application doesn't run, it is Firefox spitting up an error telling me the plugin is disabled when everything else indicates that it is in fact enabled and not blocked.

I also want to know how to TURN ON Java in Fire Fox. It's NOT in the Applets or Add-ons or Plugins. I have searched for a way to turn ON Java. WHY is this is hard to understand?

Hi fm.usa

Could you please start a new thread for your question?

Then you can provide more information like your operating system and installed extensions and installed plugins.

If you do not see the plugin in "Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Plugins" then Firefox didn't find the plugin. This might be a problem with missing registry keys if you are on the Windows platform.
