I have totally stopped using and uninstalled Firefox, which was my preferred browser, because something has happened to prevent my default home page from loading on start or restart. The page that DOES load on start or restart is the very last web page that was open before the browser was closed. No need to tell me about clearing history, cache, etc., because I've already done all the self-help procedures I can find, without success. So until I read where a fix has been made that is easily found, I've reluctantly gone back to using IE for my browser.

Hello,

I am sorry that you had to face this problem. Lets try to fix it. Follow the procedure describe below.

1. Go to your address bar and type about:config and press enter.

2. A page will open which will ask your permission to proceed. Click i'll be careful, I promise button.

3. On the page that opens next there is a search box at the top of the page. Search for home in that box and a list of option will appear (in a few seconds) . double click on browser.startup.homepage and a dialog box and in that dialog box type the name of the website which you want as your homepage eg: https://mail.google.com/ or about:home (which is default value)

Thats it.

Hope it helps.

I already tried that. It did not fix it - the same problem persists. Thanks for the reply though. BL

Hello again,

Click the menu button new fx menu button then go to Options
Click the General section
Where it says When Firefox starts make sure "Show my home page" is selected and not "Show my windows and tabs from last time". If this is selected, simply change it.

If this too doesn't help, then copy your Troubleshooting Information here:

1. To get Troubleshooting Information Go to your address bar and type about:support and press enter.

2. A page will open on the page that opens next there is a button which says copy text to clipboard click that button. On clicking that button your Troubleshooting Information will be copied which you can paste here.

Hope it helps.

You can check if you have a user.js file in the Firefox profile folder that sets the browser.sessionstore.resume_session_once pref to true.

You can use this button to go to the currently used Firefox profile folder:

  • Help > Troubleshooting Information > Profile Directory: Show Folder (Linux: Open Directory; Mac: Show in Finder)
