What is this button / tool / feature ?
After upgrading Firefox to v.29, next to the new Open Menu button there is what at first sight appears to be a blank space but which on closer inspection has six grey dots forming a triangle in the lower right hand corner, giving it the appearance of a resizing tool. By clicking and dragging on it, I can change the width of the Firefox window, in just the same way as clicking-and-dragging on the right border of the Firefox window. If I right-click on it and choose "Remove from Toolbar" it disappears, but reappears as soon as I restart Firefox.
Is this simply a redundant resizer (or, more accurately, "re-widther")? If so, is there any way to get rid of it?

This is the "button".
The image is very small that I almost deleted it. Can you possibly take a bigger screenshot?
Can you give me a screenshot so I know what you're seeing? Please see How do I create a screenshot of my problem? to create a screenshot
Once you've done this, attach the saved screenshot file to your forum post by clicking the Browse... button below the Post your reply box. This will help us to visualize the problem.
Can you start by giving us the troubleshooting information from the Firefox installation that's having problems. This is an essential step in troubleshooting.
- Click the Firefox button at the top left, then click the Help menu and select Troubleshooting Information from the sub-menu. If you don't have a Firefox button, click the Help menu at the top and select Troubleshooting Information from the menu.
Now, a new tab containing your troubleshooting information should open.
- At the top of the page, you should see a button that says "Copy text to clipboard". Click it.
- Now, go back to your forum post and click inside the reply box. Press Ctrl+V to paste all the information you copied into the forum post.
Can you try to start Firefox in Safe Mode to see if Firefox works properly with no error? You can start Firefox in Safe Mode below:
- Windows/Mac: Go to Help > Restart with add-ons disabled
- Linux: Run firefox -safe-mode in the Terminal/Konsole
If Firefox opens up fine with no problems, it's probably one of your extensions that's causing the issue. You can re-enable your add-ons one by one until you find the one that causes the issue upon being re-enabled.
That looks like the resize button as you can find it in the bottom right corner.
Thank you for the responses.
Yes, I agree that this is the resize button, moved from the Status Bar.
This morning (when I was about to investigate the issue further by running Firefox in safe mode), this phenomenon (ie. the Resize button appearing in the Navigation Toolbar, which had been the case for a couple of days) had changed: the Status Bar (which had previously been hidden) was now active again, and the Resize button had moved back from the Navigation Bar to the Status Bar. So I hid the Status Bar again, and the Resize button did not return to the Navigation Bar. So, everything is now OK - at least, for now.
I am using the Classic Theme Restorer add-on, and am wondering whether it is slightly buggy.
There is a Classic Theme Restorer support thread over here.
