Downloads never complete

A while ago i updated firefox to the newest version, and i have been trying to resolve this issue ever since. Whenever i select a download firefox starts the download but never finishes. the download manager shows a "re-download" arrow next to the download every time. I have tried deleting my profile and it has not helped. I since restored my profile but i am at a loss on how to fix the download issue.

It is possible that your anti-virus software is corrupting the downloaded files or otherwise interfering with downloading files by Firefox.
Try to disable the real-time (live) scanning of files in your anti-virus software temporarily to see if that makes downloading work.
