Can't save history. Had same problem with bookmarks, fixed by resetting bookmark entry using about:config.

Preferences: set to "use custom settings for history." "Start Firefox in a private browser" NOT checked. "Remember browsing history for 30 days" checked. "Remember download history" checked. This is working. "Remember search and form history" checked. This is working.

Cookie preferences (all working):
   "Accept cookies from  sites" checked.
   "Accept third-party cookies" checked.  
   "Keep until" option is "Ask me every time."
"When using location bar, suggest" option is "History and bookmarks"

You can look at these prefs on the about:config page.

To open the about:config page, type about:config in the location (address) bar and press the "Enter" key, just like you type the url of a website to open a website.
If you see a warning then you can confirm that you want to access that page.


This can also be a problem with the file places.sqlite that stores the bookmarks and the history.

Renaming places.sqlite files solved the problem. Thank you!
