Hi - new to the forums.

I have a fairly retrograde, request

I want to have Firefox operate with ONLY ONE tab on screen at any time!

By That I mean, whenever I try a new search ,or open a new link, I want it to REPLACE the one and only existing tab always. Firefox will only ever have one tab on the screen- no multiple tabs allowed.

Is this possible?

Many Thanks

Hi. You can try setting preferences with the values shown below; you may need to restart the browser afterwards. Enter about:config in the address bar. Search sites such as G and DuckDuckGo have preferences which may affect whether searches open in a new window/tab.

https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/about-config-editor-firefox

browser.link.open_newwindow set to 1 JavaScript links: browser.link.open_newwindow.restriction set to 1 browser.link.open_newwindow.override.external set to -1 browser.search.openintab set to false browser.tabs.loadInBackground set to false browser.tabs.loadDivertedInBackground set to false browser.search.openintab set to false

Hi. You can try setting preferences with the values shown below; you may need to restart the browser afterwards. Enter about:config in the address bar. Search sites such as G and DuckDuckGo have preferences which may affect whether searches open in a new window/tab.

Note that Firefox will always open internal about pages (see about:about) like about:preferences and about:logins in a new tab. Only one link opened at the time can possibly be diverted to the same tab.

Awesome Terry- thanks a lot.
