Restore previous session no longer working

A few days ago, Firefox crashed, yet again, due to all the spam shit on websites these days. I guess Shockwave is what actually crashed, and it took the browser with it. I forced close through Task Manager (Win7 Pro) and restarted. On restart, I did not get the normal crash report/restart option. Upon later closing under normal circumstances, it became apparent that I also no longer have the 'restore previous session' option. Not in the opening screen, nor in the history menu. This issue remains after numerous browser, and computer, restarts. I have checked about:config, following various forum posts, and all settings are as they should be. I've made no changes to, and have checked, settings for deleting history on exit, etc, and all are as they should be.

Thoughts?

Thanks

I understand that restore previous session is no longer working. Unfortunately the session is overwritten each time that you restart Firefox. However it is possible to restore the session if you have certain files from the time that you wanted to restore the session.

I also understand that this happened after a crash. Avoid crashes - Tips and tricks and How do I restore my tabs from last time?

Thanks for the attempt, but no joy. If you look at the page "How do I restore my tabs from last time?", you will see a red outline around the "restore previous session" on the very first screen shot. My system no longer shows me that button. Going into History always shows the "Restore Previous Session" link greyed out and unusable. Following instructions on that page, I set "When Firefox Starts" to "Show my windows and tabs from last time". Still doesn't work. All I get is the Firefox home page with no "restore previous session" option. I checked privacy settings and it is set to remember history. I made no changes to any settings when this started. I had a bunch of tabs open and shockwave crashed. I had to use ctrl/alt/del to close Firefox and it's been broken ever since. Ironic that this happened not long after I donated to Mozilla, lol.

OK, this is butt stupid. The problem has existed for about 2 weeks. I have opened and closed Firefox several dozen times since it happened.

Today, I shut down my computer (normally I put it into sleep or hibernate mode) and when I opened firefox, I got the crash report that I should have received 2 weeks ago, with a full list of the open tabs, and the option to restore the previous session. It's as though I'd been using a completely different program for the last 2 weeks and this was the first time I opened Firefox.

Don't know how to explain it, but if anyone else is having the issue, you may want to try a shutdown, vs a restart.
