In the previous versions of firefox or even the current version of IE, whenever I click the scroll button, the autoscroll icon appears and I can navigate up and down a webapge easily without having to continue pressing the scroll button.

However, after I have installed firefox version 23 (latest version), the autoscroll icon disappears as soon as I let go the scroll button click. I would have to press down the scroll button and drag up or down for navigation. Anyone has any idea how to fix this issue?

Start Firefox in Safe Mode to check if one of the extensions (Firefox/Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Extensions) or if hardware acceleration is causing the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox/Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Appearance).

  • Do NOT click the Reset button on the Safe Mode start window.

Did you check the settings in the "Control Panel > Mouse" to see if the mouse wheel button is set to default.
