I'm unable to add mmy new Posteo email address to Thunderbird,

I've completed all the required information when trying to add an account to Thunderbird. The Account Hub finds my email address at Posteo and loads the configuration found out the provider. I then add my password, which I know to be correct as I've only just created it. But Thunderbird keeps telling me there is an "authentication error". I'm at a loss to know what the error is.

What is your operating system?

What is your Anti-Virus, if any?

Please quote the complete error message, or show us a screen shot of it.

It may be that you're using the wrong security and/or authentication settings. I found this page with Posteo's recommended server settings. How do they compare with yours?

Thanks for your reply. I've solved the problem! I hadn't set up the app password, which was what Thunderbird was looking for.
