FF has become frustratingly slow-laggy
FFox 60.0.1 Super slow and laggy, even returning to a previously opened tab results in a 1-10 second delay while the page reloads. It happens with or without addons activated and in safe mode, a restart helps a bit but it degrades in a few min, FF has become a real problem, I am not kidding it is so laggy there are times when I actually cant use it.
I have unsuccessfully tried the suggestions; about:config > apz.keyboard.enabled (set to false) and accessibility.force_disabled set from 0 to 1. As I stated, any significant change (e.g. restart FF, restart in safe mode) gives up to 30 minutes of normal use and then it becomes a problem again

Thanks for the reply.
Unfortunately this didn't solve the frustrating problem.
There is a growing number of posts on various forums about this issue, e.g. http://forums.mozillazine.org/viewtopic.php?f=38&t=3035463&sid=302372d24025102a63bd6e0a7168a4ca
It appears that somehow FF starts consuming most of our ram and cpu, this wasn’t an issue until a couple of updates ago... what could be causing it?
Thanks
could you go to the firefox menu ≡ > help ? > troubleshooting information, copy the contents of that page and paste them here into a reply on the forum (or if it's too long through a site like https://pastebin.mozilla.org/ and provide the link here)?
this might give us a clue what is going on. thank you!
What is the Firefox memory usage when this starts to happen?
See also the about:memory page.
Here is the link to the troubleshooting information; https://pastebin.mozilla.org/9086711 As for memory use, I have just restarted the desktop (windows 8.1, I5 4590 and 16GB ram), I only have FF open with a14 tabs open and it is currently using 40-45% memory which goes to 50-55% when I switch from one tab to another. The cpu is at about 10% but when I first posted this issue I saw 60-70% with the same number of tabs open.
Hi, each extension uses give or take aprox 20megs each so that is 340megs of ram being used.
To be Checked and turned off unless needed for accessibility : Please : go to the Firefox 3 Bar Menu --> Options --> Privacy & Security panel and under Permissions check (put a tick in the box) the setting to Prevent Accessibility Services from accessing your browser.
Multi-Processor Support : Go to the 3 Bar Menu then Options --> General --> Performance and untick everything. change the recommended size lower then see how it runs. Note: 1 = No Multiprocessor = slow again. Try 2 Restart Firefox after making these changes please. Note : Hardware Acceleration is for Video Card, Monitor to see if remain off or to turn back on.
Monitor In Task Manager before doing or thinking about below please.
Multi-processor Can completely disable it this way in about:config : dom.ipc.processCount set to 1 browser.tabs.remote.autostart = false browser.tabs.remote.autostart.2 = false
Firefox Extended Release Version : Firefox ESR does not come with the latest features but it has the latest security and stability fixes.

Bad name for this URL : https://www.howtogeek.com/334594/stop-complaining-that-your-browser-uses-lots-of-ram-its-a-good-thing/
S after doing the above other then Firefox esr you should have your ram usage toned down.
