Please tell me how to stop this. I have spellcheck enabled and a English (UK) dictionary selected. This problem has just started. My computer is old now and I'm running Windows 10. I had to do a 'hard shut-down' recently when my computer was unresponsive - might this have caused the problem? This underlining is only happening in Thunderbird, not in Word for example. I would be grateful for a simple solution as I'm not very computer-savvy.

Twice in the last fortnight Thunderbird has lost all email passwords - the Tools/Settings/Privacy and security/Saved passwords just leads to a blank box where the passwords usually are. Thunderbird will no longer collect email and keeps asking for passwords for email accounts. This happens even when the option to 'save password' has been selected. I think this is probably happening at the point when the PC is rebooted. Thunderbird version 153.1.1esr (64 bit) and Windows 10. Using System Restore has not resulted in recovery of passwords. Several different email accounts/email providers are involved - outlook.com, tiscali.co.uk and zohomail.eu. Broadband provider is Zen.

I notice that the Appdata/Roaming/Thunderbird/Profiles/w2anb37y.default folder contains a number of files named with such names as 'logins.json-8.CORRUPT' - with 'Date Modified' being mostly either 17th August or today 31st August - so it might look as though password data is becoming corrupted.

I am suddenly finding I cannot scroll a thread in Chatgpt! What changed in the last 2 days? It has been working fine for 2 years. I am on OS mojave 10.14.6 on a 2015 Model Imac.

This is probably not a T-bird question, per se, but it is so strange it seems that this might be the best place to start, hoping someone might have some insight.

My wife and I each have our own laptops, running Win-11 Pro. Each laptop has T-bird 153.2.0esr (32-bit). We each have an account to yahoo mail (the site now hosting our Comcast email accounts). No problems since ... forever. Until today.

Now, beginning today, on my wife's laptop, when she opens T-bird, she gets a pop-up logon page, pre-loaded with her userid/email address. No input field for a password, but that it not unusual, as a lot of sites put that on a follow-up. But when we click 'next', it just rejects it. We were able to log into the yahoo mail web page (in Firefox) just fine.

After a lot of head scratching, I added her account to the T-bird configuration on my laptop. First time up, it prompted for credentials, but here it accepted them. So now we have her yahoo/comcast account configured and working just fine on my laptop, but continue to get credentials rejected running the same config on hers. Again, this has been working just fine up until today.

(If you are wondering about the connection between Comcast and Yahoo, several years ago we 'cut the cable' with Comcast, after confirming they would continue to support our email accounts. Then some time ago, they off-loaded that to Yahoo, such that we were able to retain our Comcast email address, but it redirected to and is hosted on Yahoo.)

Thunderbird keeps bringing in emails automatically. I don't want it to download anything until I ask it to. This just started when i had to reinstall Tbird after it stopped working for me. 1. It downloads emails automatically 2. I only want emails upon my specific request. 3. I can no longer find any switch to allow me to turn of auto downloads.

I have many years and email accounts on my old WIN10 workstation running all POP installations.

I have a new workstation with WIN11. Is it possible to install TB on my new workstation with my accounts installed as IMAP and keep the same folder configuration? I have many email folders and filters setup on the old workstation installation.

I would appreciate any installation recommendations. I've been using TB for years and would like to keep as much of the current configuration as possible.

On 3 August, Thunderbird was automatically updated on my Mac Mini to Version 155.0. Ever since, all incoming mail is placed in a folder called Satellite Radio, and distribution to the proper mailboxes stops.

Aloha. I'm helping a friend with setting up a new Windows 11 PC, and cannot get Thunderbird to connect to Spectrum's servers. I spent an hour on the phone with Spectrum support and they just gave up and said it must be an issue with Thunderbird. Here are the details:

- Brand new Dell 24 All-in-One EC24250 - Windows 11 25H2 plus all additional fixes. - All Dell drivers updated. - Thunderbird V155.0 64-bit

If I click on 'Get Messages' after a while I get: "Connection to server mail.twc.com timed out". I've gone into the config editor and changed mailnews.tcptimeout from 100 to 500 and still get the error.

In the Account Settings | Server Settings | Test server connection I get: An error occurred connecting to mail.twc.com:993.

I've tried this with both setting up a brand new account in Thunderbird, and also via copying the 'Thunderbird' folder from %appdata%\roaming from her old machine.

Email configuration (from Spectrum).

IMAP Settings Server name: mail.twc.com Port: 993 user name: abcd@hawaii.rr.com Connection Security: SSL/TLS Authentication method: Normal password

When I open Thunderbird it is sending my emails directly to the deleted folder. I have tried all-sorts and cannot find an answer. I transferred Thunderbird to my new PC and all was working okay for a few weeks then all of a sudden there were emails missing from my inboxes and I found them in the deleted folder. I am 76 years old and need an easy step by step solution please ..... John

I made a change somewhere that caused a total loss of history/open tabs even in my tab manager extension. I can't remember exactly what it was I changed but nothing I have searched here has been helpful in recovering from this. I did not want to bring my profile from home as I am using Firefox here in a work environment. Can someone point me to or explain a step by step method to be able to do this? Nothing I found in searching here has been positive.

I’ve been having some connection issues while using Mozilla VPN with Firefox. Some websites either load very slowly or occasionally fail to open until I disconnect the VPN.

I’m trying to understand whether this is more likely to be related to Firefox, the VPN connection itself, or the server being used.

I’ve also been looking at other VPN options such as CometVPN and was wondering whether changing providers could realistically make a difference in this kind of situation, or whether I should first be checking Firefox/network settings.

Are there any specific DNS, proxy or Firefox settings that are worth checking when troubleshooting this type of VPN connection problem?

I have an extension that I depend on and it is not compatible with the current version of Thunderbird so I need to backup until it starts working again. How can I download earlier version of Thunderbird?

I have a recurring email which is spam at it's worse. I identified it as spam/junk, ran the filter as instructed. Will not go away. Is there anyway I can permanently get rid of it? ecare.all.r@emaildl.att-mail.com
