Firefox goes black when running Flight Simulator 2004

If I start Flight Simulator 2004 (FS9) when Firefox is open the Firefox window goes black. It is not really a crash since once I quit Flight Simulator Firefox is back to normal. This is so whether or not I leave Firefox running during the FS9 session. I have updated Firefox and Flash. Is there something else I need to do?

Thanks in advance for your help. I'm running Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit on a Dell Studio 1745 laptop with an Intel Core2 Duo T6600 at 2.20 GHz and 4 GB of RAM.

hello, you could try disabling hardware acceleration in firefox > options > advanced > general.
