Cursor missing at wordpress gutenburg editor
While editing a Wordpress blogpost in HTML, the cursor does not appear, either as blinking or otherwise. Resultantly, I cannot edit a post. The editing I intend cannot be done in visual settings.
Another person seems to have the same sort of problem. Here is the link: https://wordpress.com/forums/topic/cursor-not-working-when-im-creating-editing-a-post/
Apparently, his problem was specific to Firefox , as the problem disappeared as he switched to Chrome. My similar problem disappears as I switch to Microsoft Edge.

I looked at a blog post just now, switched the editor to "Edit as HTML", and I can see the cursor and selections as I would expect in a boring looking textbox. I'm not sure how different this might be from your setup, since it's a service provider's custom template on WPEngine, and not WordPress.com.
In case it's relevant, I'm using Firefox's light theme, and the text is black on a white background.
Actually, I found the cursor. The last item at the bottom of the html is the cursor. However it only moves in response to the arrow keys. I can neither pick a place to place the cusor with one click nor can I select, i.e. highlight, anything.
That said, using the arrow keys does allow me to move the cursor around, delete - with backspace - and otherwise edit in html. Inconvenient but workable.
My theme is free and at least 9 or 10 years old. Maybe some legacy problem.
Thanks for the help.
