Hello all...

This one has been driving me a bit batty as of late. I tend to use lots of extensions/add-ons and for most of them, I want the icons to show on the tool bar - that is, the part to the right of the URL/search bar. It used to be that you could adjust the size of your URL/search bar to make it smaller so that more add-on icons could be displayed - but as of recently, that is no longer possible (at least from what I can gather). Right now, I only have 10 add-on icons showing to the right of my URL bar and I have no clue how to access the other add-ons/extensions that I would like to use.

If I can recall correctly, at one time there was a way to show the additional extension/add-on icons in something called an overflow bar - but I can no longer find that, and half of the add-ons I want to access, I cannot do it because they are no longer shown to the right of the URL bar (except for the 10 that are there now).

So my questions are:

How can I resize the URL/Search bar to make it smaller width-wise, so that perhaps, more add-on icons will show to the right - and/or how can I access the rest of my add-ons if they are hidden in some kind of overflow bar?

I have included a screen shot on my current view, showing the add-on icons (some of them) that show to the right of the URL bar - but I have at least 10 others that I cannot find anywhere and would like them to show also.

Thanks in advance...

Ben

You need to click the gear icon or use the right-click context menu of an extension in the Extensions button drop-down panel, this panel serves as overflow area for extensions.

The width of the URL bar container is adjusted automatically with a fixed minimum to make all buttons you place on the toolbar fit. You could only adjust the relative width of the address bar and search bar, but their total width stayed the same. In the past, extension buttons you placed on the toolbar were moved automatically to the overflow area, but with the change to the Extensions button this is no longer the case for extensions as they are managed via the puzzle piece icon. It is up to you to determine which of the extension buttons to pin to the toolbar.

Toolbar buttons you manage via the customize page can still be moved to the legacy overflow area.

Thanks for that information, but I'm still not getting it - meaning, perhaps I didn't explain myself properly here.

Right now, there are 10 extension buttons that I have pinned to the right of my URL space. Problem is that I wanted to place 5 or 6 more from my total extension listing. How can I additional extension buttons to the right of the URL/Search section? In the past, if I added more from the overflow menu, it would shorter my URL spacing (which is fine for me), but now, that overflow menu is no longer available to the right of the URL space. I find it very convenient to have certain extensions right in front of me - but being able to just have 10 in that section is not enough.

Am I making sense here?

What happens if you pin more extension to the toolbar or is this no longer possible?

That is where I'm also confused. I know that when you first install an extension, it usually automatically places an extension icon to the right of the URL space. However (in my case), once I got 10 of them, no more would place in that area.

Now stock icons can be accessed via the "View/Toolbars/Customize" in the top menu - but those are the standard icons that come with Firefox. How do I try and place the additional extensions - which were downloaded from the Firefox Extensions site - in the area to the right of the URL bar where the rest of the icons are located? At first I brought up the extensions ("Tools/Add-ons and Extensions from the top menu), and I tried to drag those to the menu bar - but it wouldn't let me do that. How else can one do that?
