In the new tab page, three out of the nine pages listed, will not show their thumbnail image, even trying the method from https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/thumbnails-on-new-tab-page-are-missing to restore thumbnails after clearing cache, still does not restore the thumbnails.

Hi,

One possible reason could be that the websites may have disabled caching which prevents Firefox from caching the site content and displaying the thumbnail.

I'm not sure that's the reason however because the thumbnails for those 3 websites used to work before, wasn't until recently they stopped working.

You can try to check the three sites in a new profile. If it is okay, then probably the cache may be corrupt on the old profile. You can then try to Clear Now the Cache, Cookies, and Site Preferences in Tools (Alt + T) > Clear Recent History on the old profile.

So i tried new profile, and still no thumbnail for those sites, then tried clearing the cache, cookies and site preferences on the old profile, still nothing, then tried resetting and still nothing. the sites this is happening with are Google's Gmail , AnimeHere.com and Tokyo Toshokan

It could be because of the no-store restriction. You can check the three sites and the other sites which have thumbnails by first opening the Web Console via Tools (Alt + T) > Web Developer and then browsing the sites. Clicking on the GET links would provide helpful info.

Okay, it might be because of the no-store restriction, after using the Web Console and checking the Get links of each site, the sites without the thumbnails returned the no-store value in cache-control in the response header, where as the sites with a working thumbnail did not return a no-store value in the cache-control.

I have the exact same problem, first three bookmarks are missing the thumbnail, even though it worked until recently. The sites are Gmail, Ymail and Facebook. Any solution to this?

Are any of those using a secure connection?

For me, one bookmark is on https and two behind login. I understand that this is useful for not making private stuff public on the new tab page, but I'd suggest an option to turn thumbnails on if you want to.

Hi mANGox77,

It would also be a good idea to submit a feature request.
