Thunderbird has become unresponsive
Hello:
My Windows Thunderbird has become unresponsive, taking forever to connect to my various accounts. I suspect the problem is with my GMail account--which is not my primary account--is causing the problem, but I am unable to un-sync GMail's All Mail folder.
I was able to get into troubleshooting mode, but TB was still unresponsive.
I have copied the profile in question to my Linux machine, with TB V140.4.0esr, to try to repair the profile, but the problem is recurring there as well.
Is there a way to manually edit the profile file(s) to remove the GMail account from Thunderbird?
Any insights would be much appreciated.
Thanks

Thanks Wayne. I'll give this a try.

DoctorP how did it go?
Hello Wayne:
Thanks for your suggestion but I wasn't able to try them. Thunderbird was completely locked up. I tried starting in safe mode, starting in offline mode but it remained completely unresponsive. I used the command line thunderbird -p to select various profiles. I was able to manually edit one of the config/ini files to remove the Gmail account but that didn't help either. (I forget which I edited but I seem to remember it had an .ini extension.) In the end, I had to install a fresh copy of Thunderbird. That new installation locked when I tried to use the profile from the previous install.
I'm wondering if I can grab the address book--especially the collected addresses--from a previous profile and add the raw data somewhere in the new installation. It would also be helpful if I do the same for filters and calendars.
Thanks again.

Address book - all files that begin with abook and end with .sqlite in the profile folder
Filters - msgFilterRules.dat in the profile/ImapMail/<account> folder
Calendars - profile/calendar-data folder
Thanks Ed. I'll give this a try.
