Why do my emails that I have already read, disappear when I bring over new mail later? I want to leave read mail in the inbox until I delete it
I changed computers and loaded thunderbird on the new one. Now when I bring over the new emails to thunderbird from my emails in earthlink, and read them but do not delete them, they go to delete when I bring over new emails. I want to keep them in the inbox until I want to move them. This is how I did it on the old computer.

This is a new HP computer, windows 10 and Thunderbird works, it brings over mail and I can read it and forward it but all the read mail moves to trash when I bring over new mail. I used Thunderbird on my old computer also windows 10 but it did not move the old mail until I did it myself. It also did not bring over the new mail until I clicked on "get messages" I bring up my mail on Earthlink and delete the mail that I do not want before opening Thunderbird to read, forward, etc.
Still having my problem. WHY does thunderbird move my read messages? I want to move them to trash when I want them moved. But thunderbird moves everything when new mail is brought over.
