Do you mean restoring a JSON backup (bookmarks-####-##-##_xxxx.json)?

You can check for problems with the places.sqlite database file in the Firefox profile folder.

Maybe you should reinstall Firefox if there were problems the previous time to make sure that Firefox is installed properly.

Try this instead if you previously used the stub installer:

• Download the full Firefox installer and save the file to the desktop
  http://www.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/all.html
• Start the installation with a double-click on the desktop icon

I did complete the full install as Cor-el suggested but the bookmarks still will not transfer. Also when I go to the history tab I looks the same as my empty bookmark folder. I am trying to remember how I corrected this before, but the most recent stroke I endured affected my memory a bit more than the first one. It would seem to me that if I am able to find the backup bookmark folder and they were backed up in the last week that I should be able to transfer them to my new Firefox installation. I try to run Places Maintenance, but so far with no results. My bookmark folder is very extensive and I need it very much. I don't really understand why all of my other FF elements;themes, extensions came back and the bookmarks are MIA.

I follow the prescribed procedure but after i hit the button to restore from the back up file I get a Pop up that tells me that the operation failed. Do I have a windoze issue or is a firefox problem? Also if I install a Linux OS how do I transfer my profile that I used in windoze?
