Thunderbird stopped downloading gmail this morning. It worked fine yesterday. I've restarted it 3 times to no avail. It says "Connected to imap.googlemailcom..." and it's been saying that for 2 1/2 hours now. Please help.

And please respond in non-tech terms. I am an old lady and I don't understand any of the stuff in the "help" section of your website. Still running Win10 because I can't handle the learning curve to 11. Please and thank you.

I'm trying to log into my email account on the domain example.com via SMTP. The email account is with yandex.ru. When I try to authenticate, it says the SMTP password is incorrect. I decided to try through Outlook, and it worked. What could be the issue?

Hello, I can't receive any of my e-mails. I can send e-mails out now. Plus I can put in my password to log into my e-mail. This has been a headache for me, I have been with Thunder Bird for years.

I also get a boxes that says : Unable to write the email to the mailbox. It says to make sure the file system allows me to write privileges, and I have enough disk space to copy the mailbox. I have enough space on my computer system and all. Another box that says my e-mail is being processed. Please wait until processing is complete to get messages. I did e-mail you yesterday on these issues. As I said I can e-mail messages out now also log into my e-mail with my password. Thanks, Chris

I have two domain accounts; crumpcorp.com and dannycrump.com with GoDaddy. I have two E-mail accounts; [redacted] @crumpcorp.com and [redacted] @dannycrump.com. I use Thunderbird desktop Email. Thunderbird has the ability of use filters to perform automatic actions on messages received. One of the filters is “Forward Message To”. Unfortunately, attempting to forward messages fails. Thunderbird displays the following message:

Sending of the message failed. An error occurred while sending mail. The mail server responded: Request failed; Mailbox unavailable. Please verify that your email address is correct in your account settings and try again.

Please help with this issue.

My account setting correctly are set to store send mail in send of the account. Now: - Shoud be: a send mail goes always there - Is A send mail goes sometimes to the local send folder

Pleas, tel me how to corect that.

On Saturday morning 27 June 2026 I tried to login my Orcon email account via Thunderbird (which I have been using for a long time). But my login didn't work, I got a message saying "login to POP3.orcon.net.nz with username habitation failed." On 30th June 2026 I reported the problem to Orcon.

Orcon gave me the following settings for Thunderbird. I have done that and even made a new account: Incoming Server Type: IMAP Mail Server: imap.orcon.net.nz Port: 143 SSL: Off Authentication: On (username and password required)

Outgoing SMTP Server: Mail Server: smtp.orcon.net.nz Port: 25 SSL: Off Authentication: Off

Since then I have spent many hours and going around in circles with Orcon's Technical Support to resolve this, but no luck. They blame Thunderbird. I used Thunderbird Troubleshoot Mode. The message that comes up reads: login to server mail orcon.net.nz with username habitation failed. Please can you check that your server settings above are correct? And if there is a bug? Irma

I have configured a EWS email account that requires manual configuration (I need to pass the override Office365 settings with application ID, tenand ID,...). When I select manual config I can configure the EWS server settings OK and the receiving part works OK. The problem is the outgoing server is not created OK (it is imap with password setup). I need to use the same EWS to send the email, imap is not allowed in the account. And I cannot configure the account to use EWS as the outgoing server. The outgoing server cannot be EWS and I need to setup one. So I'm in a loop.

For what I have read, thunderbird can send the email using EWS (https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/thunderbird-and-exchange), but my feeling is that using manual setup (which I need to do to configure this account) breaks something internally and the outgoing is separated from the EWS receiving part. And I cannot configure back to use the internal EWS configuration in the receiving server part.

Can I do something to send emails using the same EWS configuration? What does the automatic setup to use the EWS configuration? Is there any bug for this situation?

I have 5 emails setup on Thunderbird. I can receive emails for all 5 accounts. However, I can't send email on any of the accounts. I went through some of the old threads and tried to adjust the outgoing server, but I haven't been successful. Typically, I get a message like attached.

Neither my wife nor I can access email on our respective PCs. This has been the case for four weeks. We can access email by our Android phones, but we really want to use our PCs. I've tried to resolve the problem and failed. Previous to this failure, I had an account with BT but this was transferred to EE. When I attempt to log in to my mail account, I receive the message "Could not connect ... :the connection was refused". I can also add is that in my Account settings, Outgoing Mail server I see a message "Connection to server mail.btinternet.com:465 failed."

The STAT command did not succeed. Error getting message number and sizes. Mail server pop.gmail.com responded: [SYS/PERM] Your account is not enabled for POP access. Please visit your Gmail settings page and enable your account for POP access.

Sending of a message failed because the Outgoing server (SMTP) send@xtra.co.nz failed. The server may be unavailable or is refusing SMTP connections.' This has happened irregularly over the last 2 months or so, even with a complete shutdown of all devices, power off and restarts. This is occurring in New Zealand. Suddenly thunderbird will not accept emails from Yahoo. It use to. The email shows up with a line through it like it has been deleted and the message is blank. How do I fix it? Someone suggested looking at options to see if it's blocked but I cant find the option button

Our email comes through SaskTel. They are making changes and suggest that we contact any other platforms we use to confirm they support DMARC-compliant email sending and to see if any updates are needed. Please provide this information to me. Thank You.

A message failed to send due to some issue with the mail server, and Thunderbird said I could choose to Send Later, which I chose to do. But that message disappeared (to me) - wasn't in Drafts, where did it go? Thanks,

I'm having issues adding this email to Thunderbird. I did the steps below, but I am unable to add this email:

1. I enter my name and email (see image 1), then click Continue. 2. Outlook tab opens in my browser (see image 2). I enter my password and click Next. 3. Tab changes to Thunderbird - You're all Set (see image 3). 4. I go back to Thunderbird, and I see this (see image 4), then I click the Continue button. 5. After I click the Continue button, I see an error message (see image 5). 6. The email I tried to add isn't added, but the password is added to Thunderbird (see image 6).

When I go to https://outlook.live.com/mail/ in the browser I am logged in and can see my emails etc. So, the email address and password I entered is definitely correct. Also, Outlook has given Thunderbird access to the email account (see image 7).

Please advise what the issue is and how to fix it, so I can add the email to Thunderbird.
