Open new instance of Thunderbird alongside current instance. Answer: right-click on a folder or account, pick "open in new window"

more options

How could I open a new instance of Thunderbird alongside the current instance of it, so I don't mean an e-mail message, but a new instance of Thunderbird itself. I want this to have moved messages within Thunderbird in an easy way by juxtaposing two instances of it in one window (one window of the system screen I mean, not one window of Thunderbird).

I have to say I am somewhat irritated. I think it is so hard to find answers for Thunderbird. Even for this. I think this is a relatively simple question. I can't find it in my own language to start with, a language spoken by some 23 million people, that is, mind you. Following, I just can't find it in the database of answers. To end up here.

Then, frustrating as well, I know I have done this before, this kind of juxtaposing of windows within Thunderbird. But I don't know how to do it anymore. So, I have to find it out again and just can't find an easy way how to fix this, as I said above...

Thanks for helping anyway.

Chosen solution

Pretty sure you mean you want another main window open, not another instance. Another instance means running another thunderbird.exe process, which is complicated.

Opening another main windows is easy - right-click on a folder or account, pick "open in new window"

Yes, thank you, I knew this was easy! Still wonder why I could not find this easily with search phrases like "open new window", or a part of those (or the same phrase in my own language) within the help database of Thunderbird.

Within Thunderbird, I had been searching within the menu structure all the time, btw - so that was in vain, as it appears now.
