“My Spectrum email address is [redacted]@charter.net. Spectrum webmail can send and Thunderbird can't receive or send. The outgoing server is mobile.charter.net and the connection times out. I tested the connection from my computer and ports 587 and 465 both respond successfully. Thunderbird is set to No Proxy. when i tried to send today, it gave me this message, "Sending of the message failed. The message could not be sent because the connection to Outgoing server (SMTP) mobile.charter.net timed out. Try again." i contacted spectrum about this and now when i try to send, it says nothing and the message never arrives.

I have been using Thunderbird successfully for sometime and since yesterday there were no new emails in my inbox. This coincided with Thunderbird being upgraded, so I am told. So, I tested by sending an email to myself but TB kept assuming my old email address was valid (died last year) and any attempt to get in and edit my address failed because it kept thinking the old email was was still valid. So, I installed Betterbird, hoping it might work but it copied over my profile, etc and it had the same problem! I guess I could look far another email client but I want to stay with Thunderbird.

Any suggestions please. Robin

I have not been able to get my emails today from Charter on my desktop. Everything was working fine yesterday but nothing in coming through today. It looks like it might load, message that it is downloading 1 of 26 and then says nothing to download. I look on Charter website and there are current emails to download but Thunderbird must have a glitch. I have been on the phone with Charter twice, all the settings are correct for incoming and outgoing ports.

I have looked at the settings in Thunderbird and they are correct. I can get the emails on my iPad and iPhone with the Thunderbird app but not the desktop.

Can anyone give me some direction of where to check next?

Comcast/Xfinity forced me to change my email password. I entered the new password when prompted by Thunderbird. I am receiving email from my comcast email account. But anything I send from that email account shows this error: "Sending of the message failed. An error occurred while sending mail: Outgoing server (SMTP) error. The server responded: resomta-c2p-555442.sys.comcast.net resomta-c2p-555442.sys.comcast.net ESMTP server not available (9009/146.70.230.100)."

I've tried changing the SMPT port to 587 because an online search suggested that might work. The error message changed slightly but it will still not send.

Here are my current "Details of selected server": Description: Comcast Server Type: SMTP Outgoing Server Server Name: smtp.comcast.net Port: 465 Authentication method: Normal password Connection Security: SSL/TLS

When I click on "test connection" I get a green check mark and the note "Successfully established a secure connection to smtp.comcast.net:465.

What now?

Glitch in my original email code made it stop working. Need 2FA

I have been using Thunderbird for many many years. I am 70+ and the number and kind of hoops I have to jump through just to keep getting my email are getting beyond me. I recently moved my business hosting, and somehow a change was made in my original email code on Thunderbird so I was not able to do anything with it. I want it on Thunderbird BUT I live in a small rural town and can't find anyone who has been able to help me. The other email systems require a code sent to a cell phone, and although I have a simple emergency phone I do not have a smart phone so I can not receive the code. The other email systems I've tried require an email code be sent to a smart phone almost every day, and although we tried to do this with my daughter's smart phone she is frustrated with me because she has to come over and help me so often. Also, I have so-o-o-o many emails in my original account and I don't want to lose them. Can anyone help??? Does anyone there at Thunderbird work on anything like this? Is there a way to reach Thunderbird directly???

When adding email accounts to Mozilla Thunderbird, when I test our the settings, I get an error message "unable to connect your account to mail.canby.com. As a result since August 6 I have been unable to access my email accounts with error code as the server is not responding or cannot get emails. Have not been able to get assistance from our internet service provider DirectLink in Canby, OR. Have been in Live Chat with about 6 techs who basically have given up and said contact Thunderbird to solve the problem. Anyone have any advice? I can read emails on mail.canby.com. Windows 11 Sending, but not receiving e-mails in two OAuth addresses (one university account, one personalised domain gmail) Can't find 'Incoming Server Settings' to check if they are correct Have selected "manual configuration flow" and restarted Thunderbird

Hi, I just installed Thunderbird on a new computer and was super happy about how easy the setup has become for multiple e-mail addresses - however, I have two addresses where I can send, but not recieve e-mails. One is a university e-mail and one a personalised domain gmail - I used both without trouble in Thunderbird on my previous computer. They are both OAuth and the Outgoing Server Settings are correct, but I cannot find where to adjust Incoming Server settings. I've selected "manual configuration flow" and restarted Thunderbird, but still can't see anything new. Where do I find Incoming Server settings now? Thank you for your help,

Lena

Hi - Thunderbird has not fetched any emails from the past two days. I am running 153.1.0esr (64-bit) on Windows 10. If I remember correctly, I downloaded that version four days ago. I vaguely recall getting some message somehow that I needed the ESR. (Sorry I don't have a very good memory!) Thunderbird did fetch emails for two days after that...but I suppose it's possible that I didn't restart Tbird right away, so maybe it was still using an older version until two days ago?? My ISP is RCN/Astound. Last week, I changed my password on both the RCN webmail and on Thunderbird, and I could send and receive after that. Tonight, when I discovered that Thunderbird wasn't fetching, I also tried to send an email, but I initially received an error message. It was something like "Your message was unable to be saved" and then there was something about saving it as a draft. I've seen that message many times over the years, but I don't remember exactly what it said. Thinking it might be a password requirements issue, I changed my password again. I don't know if that mattered, but I am now able to send emails -- but I still can't fetch them. I turned off my Windows firewall and Windows real-time threat protection. That didn't help. I saw this thread https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/questions/1531863 tonight and set "network.dns.disableIPv6" to "true." That didn't help either. I would appreciate any assistance you can provide. Though I am not a expert, I am happy to provide more info if needed. Thank you in advance for your help.

configuration of thunderbird

Dear Sirs,

I want to configure my email ID sundar@srikrishnalogistics.com (provided by rediffmailpro.com) in Thunderbird.

I have already tried configuring the account.

To configure a Rediffmail Pro email account in Thunderbird using IMAP, use the following settings:

1. Open Thunderbird Go to Account Settings >> Account Actions >> Add Mail Account. Enter: Your Name: User's name Email Address: sundar@srikrishnalogistics.com Password: Email account password Click Configure manually.

2. Enter IMAP settings Incoming Server (IMAP) Server: imap.rediffmailpro.com Port: 993 Connection Security: SSL/TLS Authentication Method: Normal Password Username: Full email address

Outgoing Server (SMTP) Server: smtp.rediffmailpro.com Port: 587 Connection Security: STARTTLS Authentication Method: Normal Password Username: Full email address Then click Re-test → Done.

3. Verify synchronization After configuration, Thunderbird should synchronize the mailbox folders with the Rediffmail Pro server.

Important: If the user wants all emails to remain on the server, ensure the account is configured as IMAP, not POP.

Since all the folders are visible but only a few emails are appearing in Inbox, Sent Items, and other folders, kindly check the following:

Open Thunderbird >> Account Settings >> Server Settings and confirm that the account is configured as IMAP.
Right-click the email account in Thunderbird and select Subscribe.
Ensure that all required folders are selected/subscribed.
Right-click the account and select Get Messages to initiate synchronization.
Please allow some time for Thunderbird to complete the synchronization, especially if the mailbox contains a large number of emails.
                        • even after doing the above problem exists

i have done the above but still problem is there. All the folders are appearing in Thunderbird, but most folders contain very few emails or no emails at all, whereas there are many more emails available in the webmail.

Kindly guide me in configuring Thunderbird properly so that all my emails and folders are synchronized correctly.

Regards, Sundar Ram

I have two email accounts (one is imap, one is pop3) in my older version of Thunderbird. They have both worked normally until last week. The pop3 account continues functioning normally, but now when I select (in Thunderbird) the imap account, the mouse cursor starts showing the hourglass and the bottom status bar reads "loading message" . I've closed and restarted Thunderbird, but this doesn't make any difference. The imap account is stuck on "loading message" and doesn't download anything. I also checked my imap email account on the ISP's website, there is new email there waiting to be downloaded,. What can I do to troubleshoot this?

ps...a few weeks before this problem surfaced, I had all my email (inThunderbird) disappear, so I renamed the prefs.js file and that fixed the problem. My email worked normally after that, until this current problem occured.

Hello, T-bird gurus! Hoping someone, or a collective of someones, can help me out, as I just started using T-bird again after an intermission of over a decade, and I'm experiencing several progress-stifling and highly frustrating issues that unless easily overcome, will soon have me doubting my choice and abandoning the attempt (although I'd love not to have to). Whenever a new message is received, T-bird's pop-up notification lets me know that it has arrived, and the new message counter in the taskbar also displays an updated count, yet, more times than not, the inbox simply refuses to display the new message/s. When this happens, even if I switch out of the inbox into another folder and then back to the inbox, the new message/s are displayed (but the counter in the taskbar icon DOES reduce the count, as if read). If I was lucky enough to be looking at my monitor at the same time that the notification popped-up, and I was able to read who it's from before it vanished, and then performed a search for that specific sender, the search itself displays the new message, and I am even able to reply to or forward it from there, but STILL... no new message in the inbox once I return to it! Seems the ONLY way to get it to display in the inbox as it should is to close T-bird and re-open it... Then, there it is, sitting in the inbox, taunting me like a child that knows he's got your number when it comes to playing hide-and-seek (lil' booger!). Between this and my other T-bird issue (which I will put in a separate help request), it's got me ready to just pull the plug on TB and add my account to my company's Outlook... which I'd HATE to have to do, especially because it's setup through an enterprise account along with the rest of Microsoft's now full-subscription suite of programs that command a lifetime of automatic monthly payments in order to use them, so if I ever cut ties with that company, I might run the risk of losing access to my other email accounts. Not to mention the uneasiness that loading my passwords into that type of shared system has me feeling, in general. HELP!!!
