I was unable to login after receiving link from FireFox. All menu items tend to disappear after loading and I'm unable to go to any URL. If a successful click is found FireFox will be unresponsive after 1 or 2 more clicks.

I am now using Firefox with a recently updated Mac OS 10.7 Lion installation. There isn't any way that I can get to my bookmarks or URLs that I paste or manually put in anymore. The toolbar has disappeared and I do not see the address bar anymore.

-> Create a New Profile as a test to check if your current profile is causing the problems. See:

Basic Troubleshooting: Make a New Profile

-> If that New Profile works then you can recover your Bookmarks and Passwords from the Old Profile. See this:

Recovering important data from an old profile

Check and tell if its working.

Make sure that toolbars like the "Navigation Toolbar" and the "Bookmarks Toolbar" are visible: "View > Toolbars"

  • If items are missing then open the Customize window via "View > Toolbars > Customize" or via "Firefox > Options > Toolbar Layout"
  • If a missing item is in the toolbar palette then drag it back from the Customize window on the toolbar
  • If you do not see an item on a toolbar and in the toolbar palette then click the "Restore Default Set" button to restore the default toolbar set up.

Thank you for your aid cor-el. When FireFox is first opened all the menus are present. If, for example, I click on View it will list several items one of which is toolbars. Clicking on that submenu will list the various ones available. Attempts to click on any of those items will not work, i.e. they are not clickable. Within seconds ALL of the main menus disappear and nothing is clickable at all. The only heading remaining is FireFox. That is clickable only to quit FireFox. Yet there have been times when the quit choice is grayed and not clickable either. Then FireFox must be 'force quit' via the Mac Apple Menu.

It appears that it is not the user's lack of ability to navigate and use the menus and/or modify them. It seems rather that there is some quirk within the browser and/or OS 10.7 Lion compatibility.

As an after thought, I have also referenced the other links you have provided but none of those resolved the problem by using safe mode and disabling all add ons plus restarting.

Corrupt localstore.rdf

Check and tell if its working.

Thank you mha007; I removed the localstore.rdf and that did not solve the problem. Finally I reinstalled FireFox and replaced the previous copy in the applications folder. That did not help either. Back to square one as the problem persists.

mha007: Thanks the last suggestion has worked. I didn't bother to import any data from the old profile for fear I might be back at square one again. I simply imported bookmarks from another browser and reinstalled some add ons I like and it only took about an hour or so. Frustration is now down to zero! Thanks again!
