An ad for shoes appeared in my Facebook margin after buying shoes on Amazon using the private browser. All protections on Amazon are enabled. I also run Adblock, which usually works perfectly (ads never appear in that FB space), so this was doubly surprising.

Pesky Ads! To be completely honest, I'm shook that the day we live in, every thing we purchase or view is shown in other forms. I'm not sure why that particular Ad was shown when you have it blocked, but I'd suggest using a different Ad-Blocker, uBlock Origin. You can install here: https://addons.mozilla.org/en-us/firefox/addon/ublock-origin/

It could be that Facebook is showing the ad because you buy something. Check Facebook settings.
