Firefox will not load a window, it stays stuck in the toolbar. I have unistalled and reinstalled Firefox and rebooted the computer repeatedly.

My husband's computer is an Asus gaming computer. He was able to use Firefox this morning, but within the past hour, he cannot get a page to actually load. It remains stuck in the toolbar. If you hover over the Firefox symbol, you can see the page, but you cannot enlarge it to an actual window. I have un-installed and re-installed Firefox and have rebooted the computer repeatedly. This has not fixed the issue. Help?!?!?

Start Firefox in Safe Mode to check if one of the extensions ("3-bar" menu button or Tools > Add-ons > Extensions) or if hardware acceleration is causing the problem.

  • Switch to the DEFAULT theme: "3-bar" menu button or Tools > Add-ons > Appearance
  • Do NOT click the "Refresh Firefox" button on the Safe Mode start window

It is possible that security software (anti-virus, firewall) is causing the problem. Try to disable security software temporarily to see if that makes a difference.
