I am using Thunderbird 8.5. In searching e-mails the search facility no longer has "attachments" as a category to include in the search. How do I get this important facility back?

I know of three search tools in Thunderbird.

Global Search Current Folder Search (ctrl+shift+f) QuickFilter

Of these only QuickFilter supports the presence of an attachment as a primary filtering action. Global Search allows you to refine the results of a search using attachments as a criterion.

You can create custom search criteria, but I've never found a reliable way to identify messages with an attachment that doesn't also throw up a lot of false positives.

Whatever search you do use, you can subsequently sort on the attachments column to gather together candidate messages.

Is there a way to bring it back?
