Put the Thunderbird app for Android on my Samsung Galaxy S7, then tried to add my AOL email account. When I get to the step where Thunderbird asks me to sign in to AOL with my password, I get an error message saying "For account security, the window must be at least 320 x 200. Please resize the window." At this stage of Thunderbird set up, there are no options I can access to resize anything. I also can't tell what version of Thunderbird it is (downloaded about a week ago). Thanks.

There seems to be an incompatibility between Thunderbird and Comcast. I stopped being able to send emails from 2 different computers a few days ago. Comcast has gone to IMAP and I had POP3. When I deleted my TB email accounts and tried to re open them as IMAP, the connection was refused by the server. I've spent hours on the phone with Comcast, but there was no solution. I've switched to Outlook and it works fine as IMAP. I would like to use Thunderbird again. I have 10 years of important emails stored in the local folders so do not want to lose them. I think this is a problem between Thunderbird and Comcast, but no one owns the problem, except me. Is there a solution? Thanks, Larry Kapinos

I have been using Thunderbird for many many years. I am 70+ and the number and kind of hoops I have to jump through just to keep getting my email are getting beyond me. I recently moved my business hosting, and somehow a change was made in my original email code on Thunderbird so I was not able to do anything with it. I want it on Thunderbird BUT I live in a small rural town and can't find anyone who has been able to help me. The other email systems require a code sent to a cell phone, and although I have a simple emergency phone I do not have a smart phone so I can not receive the code. The other email systems I've tried require an email code be sent to a smart phone almost every day, and although we tried to do this with my daughter's smart phone she is frustrated with me because she has to come over and help me so often. Also, I have so-o-o-o many emails in my original account and I don't want to lose them. Can anyone help??? Does anyone there at Thunderbird work on anything like this? Is there a way to reach Thunderbird directly???

I have had Thunderbird from the time I acquired my Mac computer. This week it started to do something new. After a restart I opened Thunderbird. A box came up that says across the top System Integration. The cursor balloons, and hasn't stopped for the time I powered the computer, as least fifteen minutes. You know how the program icons are in a dock across the bottom. With other browsers open, hitting the Thunderbird icon doesn't bring its window into the forefront. This needs either a reset, or possibly a backup first. Is there a quicker way to fix this? Thanks in advance. I am not using a VPN; but I also have Thunderbird on my Windows 11. You might have seen a more recent thread on that installation. I included a screenshot. It was easier here to do that than on the Windows 11. On the Mac, I just had to use Activity Monitor to close out of Thunderbird in order to get its version.

Yahoo IMAP Mailbox Reserved Loop: Bulk folder stuck inside Trash

Hello Thunderbird Support, I am experiencing a severe IMAP folder synchronization loop with my Yahoo Mail account ([redacted]@yahoo.fr) inside Thunderbird. Yahoo Support claims the issue is caused by Thunderbird's folder mapping, so I am reaching out to you for a solution.

    1. The Problem:

The system-protected folder "Bulk" (Spam) has somehow been moved or mapped as a subfolder inside the "Trash" folder.

  • In the Yahoo Mail Web UI (Chrome), the subfolder is invisible, but the Trash directory shows an arrow (^) indicating a child folder exists.
  • In Thunderbird, the Bulk folder is clearly visible inside the Trash folder, marked with the flame (Junk) icon.
    1. What goes wrong:

When I delete spam messages via Thunderbird, they get trapped inside this nested Trash/Bulk directory. If I try to delete or empty it, the emails disappear but the folder itself cannot be removed.

    1. Steps tried so far that failed:

1. Attempting to delete or rename the Bulk folder inside Trash gives the server error: [CANNOT] DELETE failed - Mailbox is reserved. 2. Using Shift + Delete on the folder is rejected by the Yahoo server. 3. Unsubscribing from the folder via "Advanced IMAP settings" -> "Show only subscribed folders" fails; Thunderbird re-downloads the structure on the next sync. 4. I have completely deleted my old Thunderbird profile folder and created a brand new one using thunderbird.exe -P. Upon adding the Yahoo account via OAuth2, Thunderbird immediately pulled the same broken Trash/Bulk structure from the server again.

Since Yahoo refuses to help and claims Thunderbird caused this mapping loop, is there a hidden config setting (about:config) or a database override in Thunderbird that can force the server to release or move this reserved folder back to the root directory? Thank you for your assistance.

I changed my password in my Juno account and have logged in via a browser with the new password several time. But Thunderbird attempts to connect continue to fail. I deleted the old password in Thunderbird in the Privacy & Security section thinking it would update when the new password works - unfortunately, it never works. I reviewed all the Juno settings in Thunderbird and they are all consistent with the Juno Support recommendations. Now what?

I have upgraded to TB153.0.3ESR. I've been on the ESR stream for a long time now. But recently, I started having trouble with my google calendar appearing. I've deleted the provider plugin, I've moved to OAuth2, and for the most part, calendars that I have that are read-only from google show up all the time. But my personal read/write google calendar will not show up.

If I go in and delete the cache.sqlite file, and then start Thunderbird, my entries show up. However, if I switch to a different week, my read-only calendars still show up, but my personal calendar goes away.

I've tried everything listed in all of the steps to fix this, but I can't find anything that gives a clue as to what is happening. Anyone else see this?

Steve.

iCloud IMAP authentication fails after restarting Thunderbird

Hello,

I am experiencing an authentication problem with an iCloud Mail account in Thunderbird 153.0.3 (64-bit) on Windows.

The iCloud Mail account itself works normally. I can access my mailbox through Apple's web interface, and I was also able to add the same account to Microsoft Outlook and successfully send an email from it.

The problem occurs specifically in Thunderbird.

When I initially add the iCloud account to Thunderbird, the account connects successfully and my mail is downloaded. However, after completely closing Thunderbird and launching it again, Thunderbird asks me to enter the password again. When I enter my current Apple app-specific password, authentication fails.

I have already generated several new app-specific passwords and tested them. I also tested both the username without the domain and the full iCloud email address as the username. The result is the same.

Current IMAP settings:

Server: imap.mail.me.com Port: 993 Connection security: SSL/TLS Authentication method: Normal password

Thunderbird does not offer OAuth2 as an authentication method for this account. The available methods are Normal password, Encrypted password, Kerberos/GSSAPI, NTLM and TLS certificate.

The Thunderbird log shows that the connection to the Apple IMAP server is established successfully. The server reports the following authentication capabilities:

AUTH=ATOKEN AUTH=PLAIN AUTH=ATOKEN2 AUTH=XOAUTH2

Thunderbird then attempts PLAIN authentication, but the server responds:

NO [AUTHENTICATIONFAILED] Authentication Failed

Thunderbird subsequently tries the old-style authentication method, which also fails with the same error.

I have also tried changing the IMAP port from 993/SSL-TLS to 143/STARTTLS, but the connection to imap.mail.me.com:143 fails as well.

The most unusual part is that the account works immediately after being added to Thunderbird, but stops authenticating after Thunderbird is restarted.

Could this be related to Thunderbird's handling of iCloud app-specific passwords, the password manager, the Thunderbird profile, or a compatibility issue with the current Thunderbird version?

I have attached the relevant Thunderbird IMAP log.

Thank you.

I am using on Mozilla VPN on my Linux computer. Thunderbird is my email program. My ISP is Spectrum. I have a very old rr.com account. When I instruct Thunderbird to "get mail", it gives me a pop-up "Thunderbird connection to server mail.twc.com was reset". The only way to stop this is to disconnect my vpn.

Is there a way to stop this behavior? I would prefer to leave the vpn on at all times.

BTW, I am in the U.S. and select a location in the U.S. for the vpn.

Thanks.
