The thunderbird server seems unresponsive and doesn’t recognise my password - what can I do? I can get my emails on my iPhone, luckily, but feel safer from scamming when opening them on my laptop. Please advise - thanks. Ps I have recently donated to Thunderbird!

At one time, I was able to access my email with Thunderbird. Then Thunderbird stopped working, and I didn't have time to research why. Monday, I bought a new Macbook. After installation, Thunderbird says "account settings found." Then it asks for a password. My password no longer works. Instead, I get a message: "Authentication failed. Unable to log in at server. Probably wrong configuration, username or password." What, if anything, can I do?

I have just changed my Gmail password and now see this message when I log into TBird

accounts.google.com needs you to confirm access again to keep syncing with your account. Username: X@gmail.com

I'm trying to set up Thunderbird to use for my email ([redacted] @icloud.com). I have an iCloud account and get my email with a browser going to iCloud but I don't know of a password specific to my email account. The password that I use for Apple iCloud does not work. What do I do? Thanks. Ed

Tbird 153.0 (64-bit) on Windows using the Owl extension for microsoft authentication.

Everything was working fine till about 1 week ago. Apparently Cisco changed something and now I'm getting a TBird browser prompt that our Multi-factor authentication(MFA) DUO needs 'local access'. This is coming up in the 'captive browser' (I believe that is the terminology). This is the message:

Duo Desktop needs permission to access your local network.

Duo uses local network access to communicate with Duo Desktop. When prompted by your browser, please allow this permission.

I never really get a prompt to respond to this in Firefox or any other browser.

If I continue I'm dead in my tracks with this (also in the internal captive browser):

Allow local network access

Duo uses local network access to communicate with Duo Desktop

   Click the site information icon left of the web address in your browser.
   Click the toggle next to Local network access to allow access.
   The page should refresh automatically and allow you to continue.

Does this sound familiar? Can TBird use firefox instead of it's captive browser or allow the captive browser local access?

Hi, I use gmail and yahoo as my onlline emails. Gmail is primary and Yahoo is secondary. I'm frequently prompted to login to Yahoo. (via pop up) New to me. I reimaged my laptop recently. Did I forget something either w/in TB or Windows? I;ve relooked at all my szettinngs. Nothibng seems amiss. Thanks for your help!

突然「pop.mail.yahoo.co.jp サーバーのユーザー パスワードを入力してください」と出たので記録してあるパスワードを入力したのですが「サーバーにログインできません」と出ます。パスワードをリセットして新しいパスワードを再度入力しましたが、やはりログインできません。 現在Thunderbirdでyahoo mailとgmailを使用していますが、gmailは問題無く送受信できています。

This just happened today. I'm using Windows 7 and Thunderbird version 115.18.0 (32-bit) . No settings have been changed and, there have been no problems signing in to my accounts until today. (I have a few accounts handled by Tbird.) The Microsoft sign in window comes up for me to sign in but there is no longer an option to sign in with your password so, I can't sign in and use my accounts in Tbird. I did click on "other ways to sign in" but no "sign in with password" there either.

P.S. Wow. Crazy stuff. I closed Tbird and reopened it and, the previous Microsoft sign in window came up with the option to: "sign in with password". I am assuming it was fixed by restarting Tbird. Anyhow, "back i business" again.

I send and receive emails on both pc and Apple devices. Only on the pc I get a message to login to closed email address. I am unable to do this. Need to remove this re-occurring pesty message. Please help with suggestions. Thank you

I need help. How do I troubleshoot TBird asking for a password that disappears when I go into troubleshooting mode? In other words, I can enter anything in for the password, or dismiss/close the pop up box, and nothing is effected by it. I still get all me email for all accounts. The only thing at the top of the box is a user name (pmruzicka). At this point, I have deleted the accounts that used that user name, including all info for the outgoing servers (even tho this password request pops up at TBird start). I have Disabled ALL extensions one at a time and the pop up still happens. I have set TBird to default them,e - pop up still there. I have unchecked the hardware acceleration box - pop up still there. I have no clue what else I could do at this point. I do NOT have a Primary password set. Can someone please help me figure this out? Getting tired of having to click off that pw box every time I start TBird. Thanks. Also, this has been happening through the last few updates of TBird.

For whatever reason, although I've had this account for years and regularly contribute I always get this page at startup begging me for more money and even if I donate, I can't get past the begging page.

I am now locked out of the account. No login info works and I'm unable to access years of emails

I have not changed my password since I opened the account and frankly I am as aggravated and pissed off as can be. I can't get to do anything at all but read the page begging me for money even after I just made another contribution and although I haven't changed any login info I keep getting the login failed message

Does resetting your primary password in Thunderbird only delete the usernames and passwords in Thunderbird or does it also delete the usernames and passwords in Firefox?

hello thunderbird, having problem accessing my emails, keep showing pop-up box requesting password. i am the only person accessing my email, therefore i dont wish to use password. is there a way i can use my email without the use primary password? thankyou mick

Using Thunderbird for my mail. ATT Yahoo is my provided. My ATT password is not allowing me to get my mail. I keep getting a message to re enter my password. Password does allow me to sign in to my att account.
