new computer - firefox bookmarks not syncing

i am logged in, looking at my old computer - macbook running 10.14.6 - synced to my account and I see all my bookmarks - hundreds

on my new computer, also logged in to firefox, macbook running 10.15.5 both running firefox 68.9 0esr when i sync the new machine i see NO bookmarks besides the getting started one

sitting here syncing both - but nothing syncs...

i am logged in, looking at my old computer - macbook running 10.14.6 - synced to my account and I see all my bookmarks - hundreds on my new computer, also logged in to firefox, macbook running 10.15.5 both running firefox 68.9 0esr when i sync the new machine i see NO bookmarks besides the getting started one sitting here syncing both - but nothing syncs...
