Some reports talk about something called FastConvert. Try to disable it as a test.

So far, even a google search on this has not returned any information on this or if/how it can be disabled...

You can try to disable hardware acceleration in Firefox.

• Tools > Options > Advanced > General > Browsing: "Use hardware acceleration when available"

You need close and restart Firefox after toggling this setting.

Start Firefox in Safe Mode to check if one of the extensions (Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Extensions) or if hardware acceleration is causing the problem.

• Switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Appearance
• Do NOT click the Reset button on the Safe Mode start window

Sometimes a problem with Firefox may be a result of malware installed on your computer, that you may not be aware of.

You can try these free programs to scan for malware, which work with your existing antivirus software:

• Microsoft Safety Scanner
• MalwareBytes' Anti-Malware
• TDSSKiller - AntiRootkit Utility
• Hitman Pro
• ESET Online Scanner

Microsoft Security Essentials is a good permanent antivirus for Windows 7/Vista/XP if you don't already have one.

I tried starting Firefox via safe mode and this worked for a couple of days- I usually leave my browser open and the computer on most of the time- but this has never been a problem before. I did have another crash today:

I have disabled Hardware acceleration, so that is not the problem, but I really appreciate all the responses. I will try reformatting the machine and will reinstall after that. Maybe that will fix whatever the issue is. Thanks again for all your help

Your memory is a bit high, but I don't think it's the problem. Something to look into later.

The bug reports mostly talk about graphics. Did you deselect Use Hardware Acceleration in Firefox options? Did you deselect Use Hardware Acceleration in your flash?
