Why doesnt the disabling of 'Stories'(below my single row of links) on the splash page work as you describe?

Hi I've attempted to disabled the entire new block of 'Stories' but they continue to show up cluttering my screen. Why isn't 'disable' working? How can i get rid of everything except the search window and my single line of helpful links? Gary

Try turning them ON and then OFF via the main Settings: support.mozilla.org/questions/1601504

I've tried to disable them on the home page and in the settings. When that still wasn't working I thought, maybe I need to close down Firefox and try again. Still "Stories" are coming up. I even power cycled my computer but they are still haunting me. Interestingly I can toggle on and off the "Widgets" "Wallpaper" "Shortcuts", everything else but "Stories".
