[SOLVED] Firefox account not syncing Gravatar photo
Hi,
On September 15, 2022 I created this thread here on Firefox Support Forum and now I finally have an answer to the question, but as we can see my thread was archived and I can't update anything, so I decided to create a new thread just to mark my previous question as solved and bring it an answer.
I contacted Mozilla Firefox developers and got a response: Firefox is no longer integrated with Gravatar. Considering this, I can tranquilly say there is no bug or problem with my account as I thought. It's a pity that Firefox no longer support Gravatar integration, and even if I use an old version I will face the same "issue" because the Gravatar integration was a online feature linked to the Firefox account*, not to the browser itself.
Info source: https://github.com/mozilla/fxa/issues/15665

Admins can now archive and close this thread, I only ask to keep it online to help who may need this information in the future. Thanks.
- Actually I made a mistake when I wrote this, the Gravatar integration was an online feature linked to the Mozilla account, not Firefox. James explained the distinction on #4 post of the current thread.
Last edit: On January 31, 2023 I created this thread on r/firefox but no one answered precisely. This current thread here on Firefox Support Forum also solves what was asked on reddit. The thread created on January 31, 2023 and posted on r/firefox was archived as well, like what happened to my thread with the same theme here on Firefox Support Forum, then I also created a new thread on r/firefox to mark my question as solved.

Since that isn't a Firefox software it's up to their Developers to provide support to use on Firefox. Did you contact their support about this.
No, I haven't contacted Gravatar support because their system is working perfectly on other websites I use. My Firefox avatar stopped to sync with Gravatar because Firefox dropped the Gravatar integration, when I changed my Firefox account e-mail last year its personalized avatar vanished due this reason.
End the integration with Gravatar was a choice made by the Firefox dev team, not Gravatar. Implementing Gravatar on a website/app is relatively easy and you don't necessarily need to ask anything before to the Gravatar support.
In sum, my "issue" was solved, as I said above. And to solve it, in practice, I made a small modification in the avatar that I use on Gravatar and uploaded it directly to my Firefox account. Now everything is ok.
Thanks!

Gravatar was an option to have larger avatars with your sumo account on support.mozilla.org as you can see in /forums/contributors/709700 before Mozilla changed to using only Firefox Accounts as of April 14, 2020 on support.mozilla.org https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/firefox-accounts-supportmozillaorg
This avatar I have has been in use since 2008 and I never made use of Gravatar.
Ignore Dropa as he is not aware of how Gravatar used to be used here.

Ending the integration with Gravatar was done by the support.mozilla.org Admins and not by the Firefox developers.
The (desktop) Firefox is not the only product that has a support forum section here as you can see on https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/questions/ though Thunderbird has technically not been a Mozilla product for several years now however Mozilla has given them a place to get support.

Thanks for your help, James.
I didn't know Sumo, what is it? I searched about but didn't understand very well. When I create an account here on https://support.mozilla.org/en-US do I automatically create a Sumo account too? Does Sumo have anything to do with https://people.mozilla.org ? I ask this because my avatar from https://support.mozilla.org/en-US is not syncing to my https://people.mozilla.org account, and I'm using the same username and e-mail on both websites.
Oh, you're right about the difference between Firefox and Mozilla. I treated these two things as if they were the same, but Firefox is a browser and Mozilla is the bigger project above Firefox and holds more items besides Firefox, am I right?
I actually talked on GitHub with the Mozilla team, not Firefox (I talked to them here), which is the team that is aware about the old Gravatar integration that used to appear here in the Support moz://a avatar and in the others Mozilla products, such as Firefox (Mozilla product that I use).
Cheers.

SUMO is SUpport.Mozilla.Org
There are no SUMO accounts used here since April 14, 2020 as I mentioned. This account was only used on support.mozilla.org then.
To post on here support.mozilla.org you need an Firefox Account (as you are using to post in this thread) and one is new here you will create one to post with if you do not already have a Firefox Account to use. https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/firefox-accounts-supportmozillaorg
The Mozilla services you can use Firefox Accounts for https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/access-mozilla-services-firefox-account
Mozilla is the company as they make the Firefox web browsers for desktop and mobile versions for iOS (iPhone/iPad) and Android.
Also note, if you post a reply here that has links that are not whitelisted, it may likely get auto flagged for moderation as to why you now have three same replies. The auto flagging is being used due to spammers that occasionally try to spam here.

Hi, James
Thanks for explain what SUMO is, now I know.
And thanks for the other explanations too, now everything is clearer about the Mozilla ecosystem.
Ah, about the triple post with almost the same message: I did that because I needed to see the final message quicker, I was editing/choosing better words and waiting a moderator would take some time. But don't worry, I've cleaned up the identical posts as soon as it were approved, so the thread didn't get polluted.
Cheers.
EDIT: James, can you please mark this question as solved? I tried to mark by clicking on this link sent to my e-mail but it doesn't work (don't know why), so I'm asking you to do it for me. Thanks for everything.
