What's webmail?!! Sorry, I'm not familiar with this. Even if I can find the lost emails, what can I do to stop this from continuing to happen please?

Thanks.

Webmail is accessed via a browser to logon to the server. This is how you would have accessed your email if you did not have an email client like Thunderbird. It is where you modify passwords. If your ISP provided you with an email address then you go to their website and logon to access email on your webmail account.

Bonjour,

Two possibilities to use Thunderbird : - You use a pop server for receiving your emails : they are saved in your computer, you can then automatically (after a few days) delete them from your mail box in the server of your email provider (I use Thunderbird that way). - Or you use an imap server for receiving your emails  : they are kept in your mail box in the server of your email provider (I don't like this type of use permanently depending of Internet transfers).

Without Thunderbird, you can use your Internet browser to access your mail box (I don't like this type of use permanently depending of Internet transfers) : this is webmail.

Hi

Mailbox of server has been checked. There aren't any emails in there. I'm also having problems with adverts keep popping up now too - these are always preceded with a Mozilla Firefox address before redirecting me to a load of different ads. What's going on please? I just need a clean computer which allows me to access all of my emails, as I had until a couple of weeks ago! Help please!!!!!!!!!!!!

If no mails in mailbox folders, no mails in Thunderbird folders, mails are all lost. To clean your computer you can use successively the free version of: - CCleaner - Malwarebytes antimalware - Glary Utilities (one click maintenance) - AdwCleaner - JV16 Power Tools - RogueKiller

And, considering the problems you have, you must learn: - how to finish what I call "the software manufacturing of your PC" (Firefox + security options and extensions, Thunderbird + security options and extensions, antivirus, Windows Defender, Windows Update, firewall, different applications according to your needs, ...), - how to easily and safely use it ! - and how to back up all importants documents.

Do be aware that using products such as CCleaner, you do need to excude Thunderbird Profile folders. So check out what folders are being 'cleaned up' before you run it. This product can remove important things such as saved passwords and session cache.
