Inactive (grayed out) thumbnails in New Tab.

I have 6 in use, 3 are grayed out. I tried dragging a bookmark into the thumbnail but that actually opens the website instead of fixing the thumbnail. How do I activate these grayed out thumbnails? Firefox 29. Windows7. Thank you.

Hi LikeTheLake, Can you please show a screenshot of what these tabs look like? Only if you need help, there are instructions how to do this here: How do I create a screenshot of my problem?

It sounds like the tabs are pinned, however if I drag and drop a bookmark into a pinned tab, the tab will load that bookmark.

When you say greyed out thumbnails though, I am not sure what this is, I think a screenshot will help.

Looking forward to your reply!

How do I activate these greyed out thumbnails? You can replace them. I xed out some of the ones that were greyed out. Then clicked on the bookmark toolbar and dragged the bookmark to any place in the page. Customize your Firefox New Tab page

I am not sure why some of the pages do not have previews, does xing them out and adding a new one show the new tile with a preview?

The thumbnails are generated from the disk cache, so make sure that the cache is enabled and working and that you do not use "Clear history when Firefox closes" to clear the cache as this disables the disk cache (see about:cache).

Note that pages loaded via a secure HTTPS link aren't showing on the about:newtab page and also pages that aren't in the cache for some reason (they may be sending no-cache headers; see Tools > Page Info > General) have no thumbnails.

Cor-el. Thank you. Yes, I had the setting to never remember history. Now remember history is enabled and the thumbnails can be populated automatically or dragging bookmark on it. Much appreciated. Cheers.
