As I read the emails, the number in the red dot on the side goes down. But it still shows 1 or more unread when in fact everything is taken care of. How do I reset without destroying all my mail? I am running Firefox on a MacBook 10.6.8 about 5 years old.

Firefox doesn't do email, it's strictly a web browser.

If you are using Firefox to access your mail, you are using "web-mail". You need to seek support from your service provider or a forum for that service.

If your problem is with Mozilla Thunderbird, please Tag this thread as being for Thunderbird in the right-hand column of this page. This question currently is in the Firefox queue for answers.

It could be that the unread message is on another page of your message listings.
