My old version of Firefox would not launch, so I installed v 10.

Now I get a message that Firefox Profile cannot be loaded.

I uninstalled Firefox and re-installed but I still get the error message and it will not launch.

I am running Windows 7 64 bit Professional

Chosen solution

Did you try to start Firefox with this command (use the quotes and leave a space before the -P)?

"C:\Program Files\Mozilla Firefox\firefox.exe" -P

You can also try to remove the profiles.ini file to force Firefox to create a new default profile.

Create a new profile as a test to check if your current profile is causing the problems.

See "Basic Troubleshooting: Make a new profile":

There may be extensions and plugins installed by default in a new profile, so check that in "Tools > Add-ons > Extensions & Plugins" in case there are still problems.

If that new profile works then you can transfer some files from the old profile to that new profile, but be careful not to copy corrupted files.

Thanks for the tip, but Firefox will not launch, so I cannot use it to create a new profile.
