When i close a window I get a pinwheel before being able to work with another window, how do I fix it?

Sometimes Ill have two firefox windows open. When I close one and click to work the second I get a pinwheel for about a minute before I can do anything again. It happens everytime.

I expect that you would do a lot better with Firefox 5 in a day or two, or Firefox 4 today, which should run faster than your 3.5.6 version.
