When trying to find information on web using search engine such as google the Firefox 4 beta11 becomes unresponsive. The search page opens but you can't open any of the result, also clicking on any parts of browser gives no response. I have uninstalled the program and reinstalled couple times without any positive outcome.

Create a new profile exclusively for the 4.0 beta version and create a desktop shortcut with -P "profile" appended to the target to launch that profile.

It also does it in FF 4 beta 12. I downloaded the beta to my other computer which has Windows Vista and worked fine. The problem seems to occurs in Windows 7. Have tried everything but get the same result.

I had this problem yesterday...thought it was the DeviceVM Browser Configuration Utility, unistalled, nothing changed. Then I noticed that for whatever reason, when firefox was opened the plug-in container wasnt open (in the task manager processes these two are always both open). Then after trying to restart Firefox a few times, I notice there were several (somewhere around 7) plug-in containers opened and one firefox. Also during this process Firefox is running heavy on system resources and keeps climbing, at one point nearly reaching 1gb of resources being used causing the entire system to bog down. Hope this helps.

Same problem on WinXP. Followed the procedure above, no help. Then did a completely fresh install to no avail. It is *not* as previously reported a problem with a security scan tool - I have none of those installed. This is so bad it makes Beta 12 unusable.

ya it makes the entire Beta package unusable...I recently had to redo my system and tried installing Beta 9 and I had the same exact problem as I did with Beta 12....

again I am on Windows 7

Do any of you have Mcafee Site Advisor installed? It is known to cause stability issues.

negative here...I have installed Firefox 4 on fresh machines that dont have virus protection yet and it freezes...even the RC freezes...Ive installed earlier builds...going back to Beta 8 and it starts to freeze almost immediately...its for these reasons that the company I work for will not install Firefox 4 and stick with version 3...They seriously need to fix this issue if they want to continue the reputation they have built...I still use Firefox 3 and would rather use 4...its a better product...but until they fix this issue I wont touch it...
