Trying to set google as URL to open on New tab click. Changed keyboard.URL to http://www.google.com . Still brings up Fast WEB search. Fast web search does not show up in Add/remove programs or in the Add-ons/Extensions.

I have tried all the published help remedies. Still looking for the correct solution

Control Panel > Add or Remove Programs.
Uninstall "Fast Browser search protection" and "Fast Browser Search" (MyWebTatoo) (My Tattoons) (mywebtattoo.com) (www.tattoodle.com)

You can also do a search:
Files: fast-browser-search.xml, fbstoolbar.jar, fbstoolbar.manifest

See these pages and threads about Fast Browser Search (FBSMTWB in the user agent, Help > About). http://www.fastbrowsersearch.com/FBS_Toolbar/Help/helpUninstalling.aspx http://www.pccybertek.com/2009/05/remove-fast-browser-search

You also need to reset the pref general.useragent.override on the about:config page.

Many of the URLs do not work in this situation. Here are the ones that I tried previously: http://www.tattoodle.com/uninstall.aspx

Add/Remove programs did not have any entries for FastBrowser search.

I was not able to resolve this problem via the Tools/AddOns/Extensions solution. In my recent experience(3.x) Tools/AddOns/Extensions provides very little benefit in managing FireFox.

Removal of the .exe and .jar files seemed to help.

The reset of general.useragent.override worked for stopping the FastBrwsr from showing up. It appears that in the updates from FF 3.0 some of the Help Text is not getting updated.
