Video playback not working

Video playback initially works, until suddenly it doesn't; no new videos will work, and videos that previously played in the same browsing session will stop working. Easy to reproduce on Reddit by browsing any video-heavy subreddit. Leaving a broken video in a tab seems to infect the rest of the browser across websites; if a broken video from site A is open in another tab, videos on site B won't play.

Sometimes quitting and restarting Firefox is enough to temporarily get video playback working again; sometimes I have to manually clear the browser cache; at least once I've had to reboot my phone.

Device is a Sony Xperia I V

Thank you, that was it! Mildly embarrassed I didn't think to test this myself.

The culprit seems to be 'strict' tracking protection; I cannot reproduce the problem after turning it down to 'normal'.

Sorry about the late response, kept getting error messages when trying to reply...

I was instructed to post this here in a comment left by staff on my app review.

I guess monitoring the Play Store for negative reviews is more important to Mozilla than responding to support request here...

"If video playback in Firefox on your Sony Xperia device is problematic, ensure Firefox is updated, clear its cache regularly, disable any interfering add-ons, check for OS updates, verify internet stability, try another browser, and consider reporting the issue to Mozilla or Sony support."

Who or what are you quoting?

Does posting here not constitute "reporting the issue to Mozilla"?

Hi

What level of enhanced tracking protection do you have set?

Do you have any add-ons installed in Firefox for Android?
