inbox subfolders missing after update
I notice two issue after I updated. Now I am on version 78.2.0 (32 bit. I am running win 10 pro. The two issues do not seem to be related to me. Issue #1 is after I click on the TB icon it takes about 30 seconds or so to load. Before the update it was almost instant. Issue #2- When TB finally opens up I am missing a ton of sub folders to my inbox. I know that the folders are still there on the server because if I open my outlook application (which I hate and is the reason I use TB) all of the sub-folders are there. I went as far as uninstalling and reinstalling TB. Still no joy. I am thinking that maybe my app data folder may be corrupted but I can't remember how to get there to look and check things out. The email account is an office 365 account and is set up as imap. If I don't get this figured out I will have to go back to outlook. I hope that someone can help. Found this and might give a clue:

I notice two issue after I updated. Now I am on version 78.2.0 (32 bit. I am running win 10 pro. The two issues do not seem to be related to me. Issue #1 is after I click on the TB icon it takes about 30 seconds or so to load. Before the update it was almost instant. Issue #2- When TB finally opens up I am missing a ton of sub folders to my inbox. I know that the folders are still there on the server because if I open my outlook application (which I hate and is the reason I use TB) all of the sub-folders are there. I went as far as uninstalling and reinstalling TB. Still no joy. I am thinking that maybe my app data folder may be corrupted but I can't remember how to get there to look and check things out. The email account is an office 365 account and is set up as imap. If I don't get this figured out I will have to go back to outlook. I hope that someone can help.

Start computer in 'Safe Mode with Networking' then start Thunderbird.
If Thunderbird starts up much quicker then something is intervening. It is possible you have an Anti-Virus product that is scanning any program/file/folder that gets opened on startup. Suggest you make Thunderbird profile folders exempt from being scanned on startup.
Make this 'Thunderbird' folder exempt from scanning. C:\Users\<Windows user name>\AppData\Roaming\Thunderbird

for the subject Thunderbird icon .exe
slow startup that may be related to installed addons or extensions. Firewall settings should try to delete and reinstall all of them.
It may also have to do with your settings for the anti-spam policy, or too full inboxes. you can and can set this.
Thunderbird has its own anti-spam topic to get you there
Launch Thunderbird and click the Menu icon. Go to Options> Account Settings.
Click on Junk Settings tab. Check “Enable adaptive junk mail control for this account” option.
Check “Trust junk mail headers set by [your preferred classifier]” option. (optional) Click OK to save the changes.
It could also be other topics such as still having files or a copied thunderbird .exe icon in your directories in order to do this properly from the above check and delete all these.

It could be that you have been using IMAP to allow Thunderbird to "see" server-side mail folders.
Do check the subscriptions in Thunderbird (right-click a folder and select Subscribe) to ensure that the missing folders are still selected and subscribed.
Some values after an update can be forgotten by Thunderbird and automatically revert to the default values and can indeed be found there.
If this is not the case. Send me a message.
Thunderbird will be updated, some settings may be lost and then revert to defaults. It may have "forgotten" these folders.
The options under Edit | Account settings | <select account> | Synchronization and storage can also be useful to you.

Thanks for your help. I sort of have my issue fixed. I opened up TBird in safe mode. I was able to see all of my folder in the sub folder section of app data. I signed out and then signed in again as administrator. This time I was able to see all of my sub folders. I still have 2 issues that I can live with. The time it takes to open up is still about 30 seconds. Also I noticed that I have 2 accounts with the same name ( I renamed one of the corrupt). I would have deleted the account but both of them are using the same email address and since I just got my sub folders back, I am afraid to make another change that might jeopardize that.
