Used to ask me if I wanted to back up. Now it doesn't.

Thunderbird used to ask me when I would close it if I wanted to back up. I could back up everything at once. I have upgraded and ,as usually, when things get fixed it is not always for the best. Now the only backup is individual e-mails I know I can back up my xxx.default folder but I can't extract individual emails. What happened to KISS?

Thunderbird has no mechanism for automatic backups nor does it prompt you to create one. You must have an add on installed or some outside software that used to do this
