I have installed Elementary OS fresh, and I tried installing firefox via terminal, it showed "unable to locate package". I tried updating with sudo apt-get update and it still didn't work, showed "temporary failure resolving packages" even though internet is working just fine. Anyways, I downloaded the tar.bz2 file and extracted it using the instrucions given, but now if i need to run the script, i always need to cd to the folder and then click the icon. How do i get a start/app menu entry so that i'm not required to do this everytime?

The OP uses a special Linux distribution named 'Elementary OS'.

Maybe try their support website at StackExchange.
