bbc iplayer - there is no 'player' box, with the picture & controls for the programme
recently, having issues with BBC iplayer. I get to the programme, either tv or radio, I get all the page, but where the 'player' picture & controls should be, there is just a black box. Tried updating Flash, Java etc., no difference. Works fine on Chrome & IE

There are some compatibility issues between the latest Flash player and some Firefox add-ons or settings. Could you see whether anything in this article helps: Flash 11.3 doesn't load video in Firefox.
I would be remiss in not pointing out that Firefox 8 is many months old now and Mozilla has disclosed numerous security vulnerabilities in that version. You should consider upgrading to Firefox 13.
If you use extensions (Tools > Add-ons > Extensions) like Adblock Plus or NoScript or Flash Block that can block content then make sure that such extensions aren't blocking content.
Start Firefox in Use Troubleshoot Mode in Firefox to check if one of the extensions or if hardware acceleration is causing the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Appearance/Themes).

jscher2000c - when I click 'about' I get this - image 1 firefox 8 - why then does it not update to 13?

any thoughts?
just upgraded to 13.0.1 - all seems ok now...just wondering why I hadn't been updated automatically, always have been before...
