Since upgrading to Firefox 4 I lost my bookmarks, and cannot restore them from my profile, also I often cannot navigate back to a page.

Since upgrading to Firefox 4: 1) I lost my bookmarks. 2) If I go into my profile, there are no backups since March 21st (when I upgraded), and if I try to restore my bookmarks from the backups in my profile, nothing happens (though if I look at the .json file in textedit, they are clearly there) 3) When I start to type in an address, Firefox no longer gives me a suggestion from my history, 4) (and possibly unrelatedly) If I navigate to a site, via a link, I often cannot navigate back (the back arrow turns grey). That is, Firefox loses the history.

This can be caused by a problem with the file places.sqlite that stores the bookmarks and the history.

Many thanks for your help. I really appreciate it. P.

I am really frustrated. Since "upgrade" to 4.0 my firefox page does NOT show anything but the google search box. No navigation, history etc. What is going on here?bold text

Firefox 4 uses a new build-in home page called about:home

That about:home page only shows some snippets and has a button to restore the previous session if applicable.

If you want a home with extras then set another page as the home page like www.google.com or www.google.com/firefox used in Firefox 3 versions.
