How long will last this profile manager saga yet?

Now that you are killing all my profiles about the sixth time, and you still have TWO profile managers, not compatible with each other but happily killing each other automatically, with your automatic update...

I think I need to become serious.

We need to talk.

1. What is going on? 2. Do you know that you are now quickly eradicating your core, most avid user base? 3. There must be a serious internal trouble at you, or this.... what here is going on, should not have been allowed. What is that?

What is the mechanism what makes this... this... this thing really happening?

Already the idea, that you will use MULTIPLE profile managers in your own same product. May I ask you, whose wonderful idea was it?

+ extension

That is your new "profilemanager".

Is it real?

I can not believe that it is real.

(Well it also does not work...........................)

Hi.

Haven't seen the 'manager' you display. Done a quick search and saw nothing like that.

Where would I find such a thing?

If it is an extension, then why install it and then complain that "Now that you are killing all my profiles"

Just checked the "Extensions" and the image below shows the results.

So if you did install it,

Where did you find it. I note none of the ones I see are used by many, indicating they are not a popular thing

?? . . .

You do not know about the know firefox profile manager. I would suggest to learn about it, then delete your reply to keep the thread clean.

Hi, unfortunately, the documentation is a bit different of what I see in my own firefox. If I click "manage profiles", I get what you can see in my screenshot.

Beside that, already there is a design disaster having DIFFERENT profiles in the old and the new profilemanager.

Further disaster that it is buggy and regularly kills the profiles. I needed to delete all my profiles and re-create them 6th time. (!!!)

I am sorry but if there is no reaction from above for that, not a clear explanation, not a clear timeline, not at least bugfix tickets in "working on" state, then... then I must consider firefox dead.

Ah! Yes found it under Settings :) Couldn't delete the previous message :(

and thanks I have now disabled the option to choose when starting, not that there was any.

Hi nkcs,

Could you please clarify which exact issues you faced? I don't think there are any major known issues with the profile managers, so the first step would be identifying and filing them.

Also, please share your Linux distribution name and whether you are using Firefox provided by this distribution (or downloaded from the official website).

Where you definitely have a point: profiles created via about:profiles are not displayed in the new profile manager, and vice versa. Unfortunately, that's a known limitation due to some technical differences between these profile types. There are plans to create a migration method tracked here, but this hasn't been done yet.

Looking forward to your update!
