The Nightly development channel is meant more for Testers and Developers in mind as it can get checkins twice a day with updates twice a day. If you prefer to have less frequent updates in testing then try the Beta or Developer Edition channels as a version on the channel gets only nine updates in testing though it used to be fourteen some time ago. The Developer Edition channel is the same as the Beta but with additional developer features.
