Lost inbox subfolders on re-install

I had to do a Windows reinstall on my wife's computer. Before that, I backed up the profile file to a backup drive. There were a lot of subfolders on the inbox prior to the transition. Afterwards, I tried both copying and importing the profile folder from the backup drive. In both cases, the subfolders didn't reappear but the messages in the inbox did. Is there any way to recover them? I'm running Thunderbird 137.0.1 on windows 11. The mail is on a POP server. Thanks for any advice.

Since your wife created subfolders in the Inbox folders you should find an Inbox file, an Inbox.sbd folder and an Inbox.msf index file (the index file can be neglected) in the "pop.xxx.xx" account folder in Mail in the Thunderbird profile. Did you also import the Inbox.sbd folder from your backup to the new profile folder? The Inbox.sbd folder contains all mbox files of the Inbox subfolders. If you are not sure show us a screen shot of the contents of the account folder "pop.xxx.xx" in the backup.
