PC Clean Install
My PC had a sudden and total crash just recently and left me no option but to wipe the drive and do a clean install of everything.
After I had put Windows 11 back on plus other software, I reinstalled Thunderbird as well.
However it will only download emails from the reinstallation date and nothing prior.
Any advice on how to rectify this?
Is there perhaps something in SETTINGS that I need to look at?

If the account or accounts are under IMAP protocol, you can see on the providers server all your emails in the inbox, sent, deleted and archive folders and not only the new ones.

Your account was POP, and depending on settings you had, plus how your email hosts manages accounts, the prior messages were probably set to be deleted after being downloaded. So, the messages you downloaded are probably no longer available. You can easily verify this by checking the account online.
I am not sure about the reference to the messages being deleted but I have just checked my email account and all my older emails are still there in my inbox for me to access.
Am I understanding your reply (david) correctly?
You stated that prior emails were not there. Are you now saying that they are there?
My earlier response addressed the issue you reported: lost account, reinstalled account, no prior messages available. That situation happens with POP accounts that have account set to delete after downloading. If your prior messages are still there, then you did not describe the issue clearly. Anyway, it seems all is okay and that is what matters.
Sorry if I have confused the issue.
The old emails are available in my actual email account but will not download into Thunderbird.
Thunderbird is only downloading emails received from 11th June which is the day I had to do the clean reinstall on my PC.
Okay, try the File>offline>download/sync and see if that addresses the issue.
Thank you again for your suggestions but unfortunately that didn't work
Is this an IMAP account or POP?
My account is POP
IS this a GMail account perhaps? If so go to this link and correct the download mail from a date to be everything.
No unfortunately not GMaii.
Email account is held at https://www.inbox.com
Check your profile for a popstate.dat file. If found, delete it to recycle bin or rename. restart TB. I think that may fix it.
