Upgrade from Firefox 90.0.2 (64-bit) to 91.0 (64-bit) on Windows 10 has created issues with some

Following the automatic upgrade from 90.0.2 (64-bit) to 91.0 (64-bit) some of my bookmarks that had worked without issue before the upgrade are now giving problems.

1) With 'Don't enable HTTPS-Only Mode' previously set in Settings-Privacy&Security and selecting a non HTTPS site I'm getting a message that says the 'website does not currently support connections via HTTPS.' and it tells me I will shortly be redirected to the http site and displays an http address. No redirect happens and selecting the http link gives no response. The Browser Console displays a message 'HTTPS-First mode: upgrading insecure request "http:// blah blah" to use "https" which is repeated at approximately 10 second intervals without me doing any input.

2) A site that I've accessed for a number of years that uses HTTPS displays the login prompt, allows me login but then on selection of any of the various site option including the 'Logout' option I get no response. With this site the Browser Console displays no messages.

I'm having the same issue on 2 Win10 64-bit desktops and 1 Win10 64-bit laptop all since the upgrade. The laptop is seldom used and when booted I confirmed the Firefox version and confirmed that the above issues were not being experienced. The laptop automatically downloaded the update and on restarting a check showed that the problems were then being experienced on that machine.

Any ideas?

FYI - Downgrading to 90.0.2 on one of the desktops and disabling automatic updates eliminated the issue with the sites on which problems were being experienced with version 91.0.

Can you provide example of the site(s) with the issue?

Site details as requested:- http://www.bom.gov.au/wa/forecasts/perth.shtml - this relates to item 1 There is no user authentication on the site so it can be freely accessed.

https://www.lotterywest.wa.gov.au/ - this is for item 2 This requires logging in to a user account so I'm nor sure what can be achieved without a logon.

For http://www.bom.gov.au/wa/forecasts/perth.shtml In Nightly I get the security page, the redirect, and then the site. In 91, there is no redirect page and it just goes to the site.

In 90.0.2 with 'Don't enable HTTPS-Only Mode' set Selecting the 'http://www.bom.gov.au/wa/forecasts/perth.shtml' bookmark takes me straight to the Perth forecast page

With 'Enable HTTPS-Only Mode in all windows' set Selecting the same bookmark takes me to the HTTPS-Only warning page Selecting 'Continue to HTTP Site' takes me to the redirect page After 10 seconds I land on the 'http://www.bom.gov.au/' page From there I can select Perth weather and get the page that I originally wanted.

In both 90.0.2 tests the outcome is as would be expected based on the security setting.

In version 91.0 with 'Don't enable HTTPS-Only Mode' set Selecting the bookmark takes me to the redirect site and nothing happens. If I select the 'http://www.bom.gov.au' link on that page nothing happens.

The Browser Console displays the 'HTTPS-First mode: upgrading insecure request' message at 10 second intervals which would reflect the redirect timing in version 90.0.2 only it now seems to be looping.

With 'Enable HTTPS-Only Mode in all windows' set On selecting the bookmark I get the HTTPS-Only alert page Selecting the 'Continue to HTTP Site' takes me to the redirect page After 10 seconds I am automatically transferred to the 'www.bom.gov.au' page From there I can select Perth weather and land on the page I want.

The 'Don't enable HTTPS-Only Mode' setting is not behaving the same as in version 90.0.2.

With the HTTPS security setting I've closed and re-launched Firefox and checked the security setting before testing and I also clear data and history on close.

Not sure if this helps but the relevant Browser Console messages for the weather site access attempt with 'Don't enable HTTPS-Only Mode' set as follows showing the 'looping' at 10 second intervals beginning with HTTPS-First Mode:Upgrading etc.
