I understand there have been loads of questions about aol mail and TB. I have used TB for years and have had (sadly) an aol email account for even more years. I partly understand the upheaval last year, but now missus and I use a desktop. TB (yes, updated every time) works fine with my aol email. Couple of weeks ago it took against my wife's account. Or aol did. Usual story, she can get on on the website OK. Bizarrely TB still works for her account on an old computer running old windows. On the relatively newer Mac TB accepts that the aol account exists but immediately asks for a Yahoo password when I try to add it back. (It was fine a few weeks ago). WTF? Never ever been anywhere near Yahoo.

Yahoo and AOL are a single organization (Verizon media) and from the outside it would appear everything is being rebranded to Yahoo.

In this instance I would guess the AOL id will substitute in the Yahoo id field, probably the email address as most Yahoo id's are the email address. ATT customers input their ATT email and password on a yahoo site, and I a non ATT customer can sign into the ATT mail web page using my Yahoo id.

I guess AOL customers input their AOL email address and password to satisfy the Yahoo oAuth servers.

Yahoo/AOL/Verizon does appear to be making a hash of it as far as offering intelligible information on what they are doing. Yesterdays news is Verizon Media who owns Yahoo and AOL brands is itself up for sale to a pension fund manager, does not bode well that their customer communications will improve.
